Home Made Healthy BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 – cloves garlic – diced
  • 1 tbsp stone ground mustard
  • 1 diced celery stalk
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup gluten free soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp Himalayan pink salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add oil to a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Make sure to stir and watch the garlic, it can burn easily.
  2. Add the rest of ingredients including the seasonings and spices. Stir to combine
  3. Allow mixture to come to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring. Use a lid to prevent splashing.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning for desired flavor. 
  5. Cool. Transfer to a tall jar (to prevent splashing) and use an immersion blender right in the jar to blend everything together until smooth. You can also use a regular blender too.
